Haier 3.5kW heat pump heating and cooling a Buckingham bungalow
This bungalow in Linden Village, Buckingham, now has a Haier 3.5kW wall-mounted heat pump that heats the home through the winter and cools it in summer. Because everything in a bungalow is on one level, a single, well-placed indoor unit can move warm air into the main living space and take the chill off the rooms around it, controlled from a simple remote or the Haier app.

How we fitted it
- Survey. We looked at where the warmth was needed and where the outdoor unit could sit, and sized the system at 3.5kW for the space.
- Indoor unit. Fixed high on the wall where it can push warm air into the main living area.
- Outdoor unit. Set on a ground stand on the patio, so nothing needed fixing high on the rendered wall.
- Pipework. Run neatly in white trunking to match the house, down to the outdoor unit.
- Pressure test and commissioning. The pipework was pressure tested and vacuumed before the refrigerant was released, then heating and cooling were both tested and the Haier app set up, by an F-Gas certified engineer.
Why it works well in a bungalow
In many bungalows the warmth from the main heating gathers in the middle of the house and never quite reaches the far rooms. A heat pump warms the room it is in within minutes and then holds a steady temperature, using far less electricity than a plug-in heater. The same unit cools the home on hot summer days.
